Chestnut Lane

IMAGE: 1 2

This four-story, 70-unit new assisted living facility is specifically designed for deaf and deaf/blind senior residents. It is a unique prototype for an environment that breaks down the communication barriers often faced by this community. Special considerations to increase positive social interaction include a location adjacent to a light rail station, various computer monitoring and visual alerting devices, an interior mezzanine overlook to minimize a sense of isolation, and a lovely fourth floor dining area with outdoor seating. Chestnut Lane has received two national awards (from AIA/ AASHA and NAHB) for excellence in the design of Special Needs facilities.
