LRS’s renovation of the former Martha Washington Hotel will provide 81 units of affordable living spaces for clients of the Housing Authority of Portland. The five-story 1923 building at 11th and SW Main will provide studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units and a variety of support service spaces to serve those struggling with mental health issues. In addition to ADA improvements in the common area, new elevators and a renovated interior courtyard, the building will receive a lighting upgrade of architectural elements to provide a welcoming environment, provide a sense and improved security and aesthetic appeal to the general public. The renovations are designed to support listing on the National Register of Historic Places and has received a LEED® Silver Certification.
