The DeSoto Building / LRS Interiors

The DeSoto Building was built in 1915 and 1916 when this district of NW Portland was home to auto-related businesses. LRS Architects designed improvements to the core and shell of the 58,000 SF building, upgrading the seismic conditions to current code standards, adding the entry canopies, repointing the exterior brickwork and creating a rooftop deck area. LRS also designed the main lobby, stair and corridor areas shared by the first and second floor tenants. The building has received Historic Landmark status.

LRS’ offices occupy the 3rd floor, providing a consolidated home for the firm’s current staff of 76. LRS’ offices have been awarded a USGBC LEED Gold Certification for Commercial Interiors. Extensive sustainable measures, including remilling and reuse of the heavy timbers, helped the building achieve a modern interior with material references to the past.
