Hillsboro, Oregon
The primary component of the first phase of the Master Plan is the construction of a 120,000 SF Exposition Hall. This multi-purpose building would serve a wide variety of uses during the fair and independently throughout the year. The exposition hall would be divisible to accommodate trade shows, banquets, high school graduations and conferences. Connecting the exposition rooms on the public side would be a large breakout space for informal discussions and gatherings. Each exposition room would also be connected with a service hallway, with multiple loading areas.
Outside the Exposition Hall would be a large plaza area for gatherings and outdoor events. Playful fountains and reflecting pools would be set alongside landscape and sitting areas. The plaza would extend out to the street intersection to provide a connection to the light rail station. This phase would also include a main fairgrounds entry portal, with a ticket booth and offices. A multi-media Fair Complex sign would accent the plaza, advertising current and future events.
The first phase of the Master Plan is scheduled to be included on the November 2008 ballot.
