Hillsboro Civic Center
LRS Architects designed the Hillsboro Civic Center, City Project and Housing in downtown Hillsboro, an intricate complex on three city blocks spanning a light rail line. The City Hall and large outdoor plazas are the centerpiece, but the project also includes affordable apartments, commercial offices, and 9,000 SF of retail space. LRS provided all of the Interior architecture, design and FF&E. This included a large Lobby with a monumental staircase and public Auditorium, meeting spaces, several levels of City administration and permitting offices, and a reception area for the Mayor’s office displaying special gifts from Hillsboro’s sister city in Japan.
LRS’ design incorporates elements that qualified the project for the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certification. The Hillsboro Civic Center features the nation’s first LEED Gold Certified City Hall, Low VOC emitting paints, carpets, sealants and adhesives plus high performance glazing, low-e coating windows to reduce heat gain-loss and dynamic filtration utilized in HVAC&R to ensure a healthy indoor environment.
